Starting with the Spring 2011 edition, The Pension Fund Bulletin and Gift Bulletin have been combined and renamed The Bridge. The Bridge is printed on a quarterly basis (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter) and will provide our members with current information about Pension Fund programs, Health Care, Tax Information, Gift Listings, Benefits Reports, Financial Planning, How to Prepare for Retirement and much more. Please take a moment to read the explanation below as to why this name is significant and meaningful to the mission and ministry of the Pension Fund.
In order to fully understand the new name of The Bulletin, we must first take a look at the Pension Fund’s logo. The cross, flanked by the Alpha and Omega, and encompassed by a flourette, has over the years, become the recognizable and identifiable logo of the Pension Fund. Simply put, the logo means the Pension Fund will be a part of your life from the beginning to the end. We are the Alpha in that we are there from the time you enter church service. We are the Omega in that the Pension Fund supports spouses and surviving children when death occurs.
When seeking a visual image of the Pension Fund, the picture of a bridge comes to mind for several different reasons. First of all, bridges are used every day by people to help get them from one destination to another. A bridge may help a person commute over a body of water or a canyon. If built with strong supports, bridges give people a sense of security and a way to get somewhere they need to go.
In a biblical aspect, a bridge is a metaphor constantly used. From Jesus being our bridge to God and Salvation from the Scripture in Revelation 21:6 saying, "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life." Just like God is the Alpha and Omega, the Pension Fund strives to provide that same sense of comfort and security in the lives of our members and participants. From the beginning of your life in service to the Church, to the end, the Pension Fund is the strong bridge of support that is present along your journey. We hope the visual image of a strong supporting bridge will be something our staff, members and participants picture when they think of the Pension Fund.
